Over 2,000 CBSE students in Manipur will not appear in CBSE board exams

Imphal: Over 2,000 students enrolled under CBSE in Class X and XII examinations will not be able to appear in the examinations as they have not received admit cards. The students are from four schools, Akash Institute of Science and Arts, Kwakeithel, Akash Higher Secondary School, Changangei; Ram Krishna Higher Secondary, Ghari Makha Leikai and CIS of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak .  The state government has expressed inability to intervene in the matter as the CBSE is under the central governments control. The students have appealed to the state government to make a special arrangement in this regard or else as they will be losing a whole year. M Okendro state Minister Education said a committee had been formed to look into the matter besides a police case was also initiated.  The CBSE had refused to issue the admit cards as the four schools were not able to provide the required documents in time. Two immigrants arrested at Naharlogun Railway Station

Itanagar: Two immigrants were arrested on Sunday in Naharlogun Railway Station for allegedly entering the state without Inner Line Permit (ILP) or any valid documents. According to district Tourism Officer, T K Kopak, who is also in-charge ILP Facilitation Centre, informed that both the passengers arrived the station in Guwahati – Naharlogun Inter-City Express at 5:30 a.m. in the morning without having ILP or train ticket. The arrested duo identified as Nabur Ali, about 40 years of age and another person is Lolit Sonar (50+), Kopak informed.  Ali, who hailed from Barpeta district, while Sonar a resident of Sonitpur district. Both are from neighbouring Assam were travelled the train without ticket, he informed.  ‘When asked for ILP, they failed to do so not even showed any valid documents for entering Arunachal Pradesh’, Kopak informed. Both the illegally intruders were handed over to Naharlogun Police, he added.  With today’s arrest, a total number of five illegal train passengers were arrested at Naharlogun station for entering the state without ILP.  On Saturday a priest was arrested, while another two persons were arrested on February 26 for entering the state on the same charges, Kopak added. The train service was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Statehood Day celebration when he flagged off weekly Naharlogun – Delhi AC Express to remove the backwardness of the state on February 20 last. Nagaland observes National Science Day

Kohima: The Nagaland Science Centre (NSC) in the Department of Science and Technology observed National Science Day under the theme ‘Science for National building’ at Nagaland Science Centre at Dimapur on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion. the Secretary & ex-officio Director, Department of Science and Technology C M Tsanglao as Chief Guest said science has changed the life style of Sunday’s generation and with change of time, human minds have developed. Asserting that ‘we’ have and achieved is because of science and technology, he however, pointed out that with these discoveries men are becoming ‘weird dowers’. Emphasizing on the advancement of technology, he questioned, the achievements, civilization and what the people have been enjoying would lead us to. Tsanglao then said in this ‘confusing situation’ one can not control what has been happening around us and that one should try and adapt with the changing environment. Encouraging the students, Tsanglo said in this fast changing world students should make their presence felt and do ‘something’ as they are the ‘mouthpiece’ of the nation. He also encouraged them to be aware of things that was going on and encouraged them to contribute by involving themselves in activities that would benefit the school, society, state and nation. Pointing out that there is no end to learning, he motivated the students to take part in activities that would help them and also asked them to understand the value of teachers and maintain good relation with them.
