Editors getting threats in Manipur

Imphal: Editors of various newspaper esta-blishments were getting threats from unknown persons. Armed persons had also searched for the Editor of a local vernacular at his Imphal residence recently.
Editors’ Guild, Manipur (EGM) has requested the Manipur government to provide security personnel to Khoirom Loyalakpa, Editor of Naharolgi Thou-dang who was threatened by armed persons.The threat was reportedly given to pressurise the journalists to suppress publication of newspapers.
All Manipur Working Journalists Union and various other organisations of the state had also earlier appealed to all to enable the scribes function freely. (UNI)
