SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday said that the law of the land would prevail against any ‘absconder’ if he or she reappears.
Sangma said this while reacting to a query over the person. who despite being declared as an ‘absconder’ in a chargesheet filed by police, was given the sub contract for the installation of CCTVs in the city.
“There is a process of law for those people who reappear after being declared as an absconder,” Sangma said.
The ‘absconder’ identified as Daimul Alom Mazumder was present during the inauguration of closed-circuit television (CCTV) based surveillance system under ‘Safe-Secure-Shillong Project’ recently at Shillong Sadar Police Station. The East Khasi Hills DC  Sanjay Goyal had filed an FIR against two persons, Daimul and Sahir Ahmed Mazumder in 2012 for spreading rumours against the action taken by the district administration in vacating a room at the Police Bazar mosque.
