SHILLONG: An attempt to smuggle a mobile phone to the Tura District Jail was averted on Wednesday when jail authorities found a handset with some food packets.
During checking of food packets handed over by one visitor Tengsrang Marak to one UTP Bansang M Marak authorities detected one set of Samsung mobile phone with accessories meant to be handed over to UTP William Sangma, an ANCA cadre. When contacted, West Garo Hills DC Pravin Bakshi informed that an FIR has been lodged in this connection. The mobile handset was hidden inside a cake and it was detected during scanning.
