Holi celebrations

Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club and Gitanjali Dance Academy will celebrate ‘Basanta Utsav’ (Holi) on March 6, at 9.30 am at the Rilbong Hindu Dharma Sabha Hall. Prof. Amitabha De, Director IIM Shillong will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Disaster relief

The East Jaintia Hills DC has informed that assistance from State Disaster Response Fund and National Disaster Response Fund for the period 2010-2015 has been sanctioned at the rate of Rs. 70,800 per affected victim whose house has been damaged due to fire incident between March and May, 2014 and Rs. 8,78,800 to the affected victim whose house was damaged due to hail storm during the same period.

Women’s Day

The  National Health Mission, Meghalaya will organize a free  health check-up  for the pregnant women and others in all the government health centres from March 9 to 11 as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.     Similarly, the Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board, Shillong in collaboration with Ri Bhoi Area Welfare Association, Umsning, will celebrate the International Women’s Day at Duya Hall, Diwon (Umden)  Raid, Nongtluh on March 13 at 12 noon.

Lok Adalat

The District & Sessions Judge, Ri Bhoi will hold a “Monthly National Lok Adalat” for revenue, MNREGA and land acquisition cases at the office of the District & Sessions Judge, Nongpoh on March 13 from 10:30 AM onwards.

NSS seminar

A two-day national seminar under the theme ‘the Role of NSS in Nation Building: Scope and Challenges’ was inaugurated by Dr A. H. Ahangar, Director, NEIGRIHMS at the Multi Use Convention Centre NEHU. The NSS magazine was also released on the occasion.

Swacch Bharat Mission

The Office of the Public Health Engineering (RWS) Division Jowai organized an awareness programme on Swacch Bharat Mission at Lathymphu Village on Thursday.  The programme was attended by Parliamentary Secretary, Robinus Syngkon, West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, besides hundreds of villagers.
