UK varsity Prof visits USTM

Guwahati: Prof. David W. Knight, Professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Cardiff University, United Kingdom visited USTM on Saturday. During his visit to Techno City he had delivered a talk on the topic: “New Acid-Catalyzed Methodology for Alkaloid Synthesis”.
After his talk he also interacted with the students of Dept. of Chemistry of USTM.
During his interactions he appreciated the whole environment of USTM praising both the faculty and students as bright, enthusiastic and dedicated. He further went on to state that USTM albeit a new university has an amazing infrastructure.
Prof. David William Knight completed his Ph. D. from University of Nottingham (1975, G. Pattenden, synthesis of natural butenolides). He was Lecturer in University College, Cardiff from 1976-1979; Lecturer in Chemistry, University of Nottingham from 1979-1989; Reader, University of Nottingham from 1989-1995. He was appointed as a Professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry in Cardiff University, in 1995.
