SHILLONG: Around 1.25 lakh active LPG customers in Meghalaya accounting for 79 per cent of the total number of customers have joined the PAHAL Scheme which was introduced in 54 districts of the country on November 15 last year.
Deputy Manager, (LPG-S), Shillong, S. Chakma, informed that the enrollment has achieved a satisfactory level of penetration of 80 per cent on all India basis.
He informed that under the scheme, a fixed permanent advance of Rs.568 is given to every consumer and added that this has been revised to become variable every month, equal to the actual subsidy due at the time of booking on April 1, 2015 and subject to a maximum of Rs.568.
It may be mentioned that the PAHAL Scheme is being directly monitored by Union MoS (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan.
