TURA: Concerned over the plight of students who missed their examination due the bandh called by GNLA on March 3, the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), CEC Tura met the Controller of Examinations, MBOSE on Tuesday seeking details on the actual number of absentees in both HSSLC and SSLC examinations.
The Union also appealed for re-conduct of the exams of the concerned subjects for the benefit of the affected students.
Meanwhile, the fate of the students remains unclear as the Controller of Examinations MBOSE chose to ignore calls to her personal number despite repeated attempts being made since Monday evening.
When contacted, MBOSE executive chairman, EP Kharbhih said that the percentage of absentees is minimal.
“We can definitely allow re-exams for them after receiving the full report from all officers in charge of exam centres in Garo Hills,” Kharbhih said adding that the exams will continue as scheduled.
Giving statistics of absentees in Ampati for SSLC exams, he informed that in St Dominic School 30 students remained absent whereas in St Claret School two candidates could not make it to the exam centre. In Ampati Govt. HS School only one student remained absent. He also said that if any candidate makes a formal request for re-exam, the Board can consider it.
