Three shot dead in separate incidents in UP
Baghpat (UP):Three persons, including a temple priest, were allegedly shot dead in separate incidents in the district, police said on Tuesday. Sukhbir Singh (55), a priest at Kali Devi temple in Pilana village under Baghpat police station area, was shot dead allegedly by two persons last night, they said, adding that an FIR has been lodged and investigations are on. In another incident, one Sachin (22) and his uncle Dharmendra (45) were shot dead by allegedly by unidentified assailants near Sup village under Badaut police station area while they were returning from a wedding in a car. The incident could be a fallout of rivalry over allotment of ration shop, police said, adding that investigations are on. (PTI)
7 injured in TMC, SUCI clash in Burdwan
Burdwan (WB):At least seven persons were injured on Tuesday in a clash between the activists of the ruling TMC and SUCI in West Bengal’s Burdwan district. According to police, the clash took place between the Trinamool Trade Union Congress and SUCI (Socialist Unity Centre of India) over alleged recruitment of TMC activists in a paper mill in Pratapur. The clash took place in front of the paper mill after the TMC activists attacked the SUCI protesters who were staging a demonstration against the recruitment policy. Among the injured were four TMC and three SUCI activists who have been admitted to the Durgapur hospital. Situation is now under control and investigations are on, police said. (PTI)
Three minors and mother killed in house fire
Jaipur:A woman and her three minor children, including an infant, were killed when their thatched house caught fire in Banswara district in Rajasthan on Tuesday. Bhuri Devi along with her children, Arvind (6), Payal (3) and 6-month-old Munna were in the house in Patan area when it caught fire. Neighbours tried to douse the flames but the children were charred to death on the spot and Bhuri Devi died on way to hospital in Kushalgarh, police said. Reason of the fire is not clear and the matter is being investigated. The bodies have been shifted to a hospital mortuary for postmortem, the police added. (PTI)
12-year-old boy dies, family members injured in mishap
Lakhimpur:A 12-year-old boy was killed and three of his family members injured when their bike was allegedly hit by a speeding bus on Sitapur-Lucknow road in the district today, police said. The driver of the bus, working under contract with Uttar Pradesh roadways fled the scene after the accident leaving behind the vehicle, they said. The injured, including a nine-year-old girl have been shifted to a hospital in Lucknow, police said. (PTI)
