SHILLONG: The Meghalaya BJP unit has condemned the killing of four police personnel by militants at Panda Reserve Forest in Garo Hills on Tuesday.
“The repeated incidents of killing, kidnapping, shooting and extorting money in Garo Hills proves that law and order situation has reached to its worst,” the BJP said in a statement while pointing out that the ex-gratia announced by the state government was too low and should be enhanced. The BJP also demanded a government job each to a kin of the victims.
The Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) also condemned the ambush and brutal killing of the four police personnel.
“This unfortunate killing of the    police personnel has undermined the proper functioning and break down of the criminal-justice system, a key requirement in the protection of human rights,” MPHRC chairman Dino D G Dympep said.
“The current break down of law and order in Garo Hills speaks volumes about the insecurity and threat that ordinary people feel during the ongoing police operations,” Dympep added.
