Relief

The West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that an amount of Rs.13, 700 has been released to the families affected by fire under Thadlaskein Block.

Lok Adalat

The District Legal Services Authority, West Jaintia Hills District, as per directive issued by the National and State Legal Services Authority will be holding Lok Adalat for Revenue, MNREGA and land acquisition cases in the room of the Jaintia Hills District Bar Association at DC’s Office, Jowai, on March 14 from 10 am onward.

Donation

The State Bank of India, Jowai Branch, has donated chairs to the Hynniewtrep National People’s Federation (HNPF). The Jowai Branch Chief Manager, TH Tunglut handed over the chairs to the general secretary of the HNPF on Monday.

Circle dissolved

The Central Executive Committee of the Jaintia Students’ Movement (JSM) in its meeting held on Wednesday decided to temporarily dissolve the powers and functions of the JSM West Circle.

Competition

Meghalaya Aids Control Society in collaboration with Treilang Welfare Society is conducting The Red Ribbon Phawar Star Competition 2015 on the theme of HIV/ AIDS and Dancing Competition (inter school and open category). This competition will be held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium Hall for in East Khasi Hills District on March 16 and at the Umsning Auditorium Hall in Ri Bhoi District on March 19.

Programme

William Carey University, Shillong, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Main Secretariat, Shillong, conducted a disaster management programme on Thursday on the University premises.

Condemnation

The Hynniewtrep National People Federation (HNPF) has condemned the assassination of four police personnel by GNLA at Panda Reserve Forest. The HNPF also observed two-minute silence for the departed.

Audition

SN Marwein, in collaboration with Carol’s Production and E11 Entertainment, is producing an English romantic thriller film Sunny for which audition for child artists between 4 to 12 years of age and others between 8 to 50 years will be held on March 21 at Youth Hostel, Shillong, at 1 pm.

Excise raid

The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills, conducted raids in February and detected 41 cases with a seizure of 56.510 litres of liquor and 22.457 litres of IMFL. 38 persons were arrested.
