SHILLONG: The state government has ordered a fresh inquiry into the Mookhep police firing incident.
Informing this in the State Assembly on Friday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the Government has also decided not to accept the magisterial inquiry report.
The fresh inquiry will be headed by Commissioner and Secretary in charge Urban Affairs department DP Wahlang.
Notification in this regard has already been issued.
To a supplementary tabled by Paul Lyngdoh on the reasons for rejecting the report, Sangma said “Since it (the report) did not give a definite conclusion on the cause which led to the firing, he decided to reject it.”
