SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday asserted that neutralization of criminal groups like the GNLA was the only way to send a strong message to militant outfits.
Asked about the indefinite bandh called by the GNLA in Ampati, the Chief Minister told reporters that criminals had no principles and ideologies and only wanted to dilute the focus of the state government.
Stating that the government was very clear on neutralizing the outfit (GNLA), Sangma said, “It is quite evident that they want to continue with their criminal and anti- national activities.”
The Chief Minister also asserted that the state government has given directives to the state police to neutralize the criminal groups.
He also congratulated the people of Ampati for defying the bandh called by GNLA and added that people in Garo Hills had on earlier occasions also defied the shutdown calls of militant outfits.
