Woman succumbs to burn injuries; foul play suspected

SHILLONG: A woman succumbed to her burn injuries which she sustained after allegedly setting herself ablaze by pouring kerosene on the night of February 12.
However, family members of the woman suspect that it is the handiwork of her husband who allegedly did not enjoy an ideal relation with her.
As per an FIR filed at Rynjah police station, the family members of the victim, Rinki Ghimiray, claimed that the woman was burnt by her husband Sanjeev Ghimiray who was having an extra marital affair.
Rinki Ghimiray, a resident of BSNL quarters, Rynjah married Sanjeev Ghimiray in 2004.
Meanwhile, the Rynjah police has registered a case under section   498 A, 497, 120B, 307 and 506 of IPC.
When contacted, police said that the case is still being investigated and some more statements are required to be taken by the police.
