Aizawl:Either the Mizoram finance minister or the RTI document has told a lie.
Finance Minister Lalsawta has said that the new cars recently allotted to the ministers and parliamentary secretaries were actually purchased for government officials, who however declined the offers and decided that the cars be allotted to the ministers and parliamentary secretaries instead.
According to an RTI information obtained by a vernacular paper from the secretariat administration department, the cars whose total cost was Rs 3,33,59,945, were not meant for government officials.
This was in contrast to the minister’s statement at Congress Bhavan here last Friday.
According to SAD, 18 Verna cars and 19 Bolero SUVs have been purchased so far and allotted to seven ministers, four ministers of state, seven parliamentary secretaries and a deputy government chief whip. One Bolero SUV has also been allotted to the CM secretariat. Of the allocated amount, about Rs 10 lakh remains, the RTI information said. (UNI)
