SHILLONG: A driver employed with a vernacular daily faced harassment at the hands of the police near Umsohsun in the city on Tuesday night.
According to the Editor of Rupang, the driver had a harrowing time while he was returning after dropping some staff at Laitumkhrah.
The police detained the vehicle at Umsohsun for a long even after the driver produced the press tag provided by the DIPR. The police were not convinced even after the Editor of the daily spoke to them.
The vehicle was taken to Sadar PS and the driver had to walk home alone at night.
The vehicle was released only on Wednesday afternoon.
The Editor of the daily has sought a probe into the alleged highhandedness of the police suspecting that the policemen on duty were in an inebriated state.
