SHILLONG: The Subordinate Legislation Committee of the Meghalaya Assembly on RTE Act  under the chairmanship of   MLA Hopeful Bamon  has recommended that drafting of  teachers for election duty should be avoided at all cost  as it interferes with their primary task of teaching.
The Committee in its report, which was placed in the Assembly on Wednesday, admitted that there are a number of Government primary   schools which are single teacher schools.
The Committee suggested that the process of creating one more post   of teacher in such schools should be expedited at the earliest.
According to the committee, as per SSA norms, water tank and toilets are to be constructed in every SSA school.  “But it has been noticed that there are many schools where toilet do not have water supply,” report said.
“This will not only make the toilet unusable, but it will create a health hazard among the school children”, the report said.
