Cattle races banned in West Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: Following the observation of the Animal Welfare Board of India that bullock cart, buffalo and cattle races had resumed in some states of India and that such races, practices and traditions were illegal and a form of cruelty to animals, the West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has, under Section 144 CrPC, prohibited all forms of animal races which act as cruelty to animal with immediate effect.
