SHILLONG: A two-day international conference on Quality of Higher Education in Indian and Global Context was organized by the Department of Education, NEHU in collaboration with North Eastern Council and ICSSR-NERC at Old NEHU Guest House on March 18 and 19.
In his inaugural address, NEC secretary Ameising Luikham emphasized that many of the youths are moving away from North East in search of quality higher education.
“The region has been witnessing rapid expansion of higher educational institutes, but due to lack of attention in systematic educational planning, and proper utilization of resources our youth are often left back when compared to the other parts of India,” Luikham said. He also spoke on the problems of employability and what could be done to channelize the youths in the proper direction.
