SHILLONG: The GNLA has again termed baseless the recent claim by Meghalaya DGP, Rajiv Mehta that Anurag Sangma was the outfit’s joint publicity secretary.
“If Anurag was the real joint publicity secretary of the GNLA he would have revealed the name of the publicity secretary of the outfit in police custody,” the statement issued in the name of Garo Mandei Ch Marak said urging the police to disclose the identity of the publicity secretary.
Garo Mandei further claimed that his Facebook account was hacked by police on March 24 which prompted him to change his profile name from ‘Mandei’ to ‘Mandai’. He added that a mere change in a Facebook profile after Anurag’s arrest cannot be taken as proof of his involvement with the outfit.
The statement added that police should know the names of journalists with which Anurag was in touch with besides knowing his mode of communication with them.
“Why can’t the DGP reveal all these,” the statement asked.
