Bullet riddled body found in a car in Manipur
Imphal:A bullet riddled body was found in a car at Lilong Ngamlou road in Thoubal district on Thursday morning, police said.The body was identified as that of Md Naosad (23) of Khergao Makha Leikai who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.The Body has been sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital (RIMS) for post mortem, the sources added. Arunachal Cong MLA expelled for anti-party activities
Itanagar:Senior Congress MLA Kalikho Pul of Arunachal Pradesh has been expelled from the party for his alleged anti-party activities. Pul, who represents Hayuliang Assembly constituency in remote Anjaw district, was expelled for six years, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Padi Richo said. “Pul’s expulsion order has been forwarded to the state Legislative Assembly for necessary action,” Richo said. When contacted, Pul denied any anti-party activity and said the decision was “unfortunate.” “I am a loyal Congress man since last 30 years and how can I go against the party’s interest,” he said. Pul is scheduled to call a press conference tomorrow to clarify his stand. Assembly Speaker Nabam Rebia, while acknowledging receipt of the expulsion order, said Pul would remain as an unattached member in the House and a separate seat would be provided to him. Pul, a five-time MLA from the constituency since 1995 consecutively, served as minister in various capacities including Finance, Tax and Excise and health and family welfare. (PTI)
Minor  quake hits Imphal
New Delhi: A moderate intensity quake, measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck Chamoli district in Uttarakhand today.The tremblor, which shook the region at 0254 hrs, was epicentred at 30.2 degrees north latitude and 79.4 degrees east longitude, said the India Meteorological Department in a statement.Its focal depth was 10 km, the statement added.(UNI)
3 Army personnel killed in Arunachal ambush
Itanagar:Three Army personnel were today killed and four injured when suspected NSCN rebels militants ambushed their vehicle in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district bordering Nagaland. The ambush on the last of the four vehicles of the convoy took place around 6 AM at Tupi village along Khonsa-Longding road, Tirap SP Ajit Kumar Singla said. The personnel of the 4 Rajput Regiment were on their way to the camp at Longding in the morning after a night halt at Khonsa, about 530 km east of here. “They were coming from Tinsukia in neighbouring Assam in four vehicles. Most of the personnel, who were on leave, were returning from their home state,” Singla said. The injured have been rushed to Army hospital. However, there were no casualties on the other side, the SP said. Army sources said the three personnel were killed on the spot. They said it is suspected that one of the two factions of NSCN — IM and K — was behind the ambush. The NSCN faction led by S S Khaplang had recently called off the ceasefire with the government.
