TURA: The Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) has called off its proposed April 7 bandh which coincided with the filing of nominations for elections to the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), central executive committee (CEC).
The decision to call off the bandh also comes after the association was provided documented proof on the suspension of  armed branch constable, Carlush R Marak and order for departmental inquiry given against battalion constable, Kamensing Kharmuti by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi.
“We were given assurance that the authorities would mull over the matter with extreme sensitivity to avoid such incidents in the near future. We also demanded that the perpetrators of the Oragitok fake encounter are brought to justice without any further delay and resolved to pursue the issue until the persons responsible are punished,” ADE president, Dalseng Bira Ch Momin said.
