Shillong: Last week two residents of Umpling (Dong Shaneng) apprehended some BSF jawans who were throwing garbage in an authorized place within the Umpling locality.
Interestingly the jawans offloaded sack loads of garbage out of a truck bearing no. WB 6775 and threw it right next to a signboard warning people not to throw garbage. The irony is that the signboard was made jointly by the Dorbar Shnong and the BSF.
The polluters were told by the Dorbar Shnong to pick up all the garbage and load it back on the truck.
The Dorbar Shnong expressed its gratitude to the two people who apprehended the BSF soldiers while they were throwing rubbish and cautioned that anyone caught doing so henceforth would first be punished by the Shnong before being handed over to the law-keepers.
