SHILLONG: Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Nihal Chand Meghwal, on Wednesday avoided a direct answer when questioned about the decision of the BJP-led governments in many states to impose ban on cow slaughter.
When the Union MoS was asked for his reaction on the ban on cow slaughter in context of Meghalaya where a majority of the population consumes beef, Meghwal said that this was an issue pertaining to the state and it depends on what the people of the state think over the issue.
The minister, however, said that all Indians were brothers and all will work together to develop the villages, the states and the country.
