Police ensures students’ safety

SHILLONG: Come April 14, vehicular traffic will be restricted for 15 minutes in the narrow Upland Road, Laitumkhrah to ensure the safety of students.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, East Khasi Hills police chief, M. Kharkrang said, “Thousands of school children walk through the narrow Upland Road after school hours every day. Any movement of vehicles during this time may endanger the life of the school children. Hence, Shillong Traffic Police has imposed a ‘No vehicle movement’ on Upland Road from 2.15 Pm to 2.30 Pm on all school days.”
During the period of 15 minutes, no vehicle will be allowed to ply on the stretch of the road which includes vehicles of residents of the area.
