NDFB(S) militant killed in encounter in Assam

Tezpur: A ‘section commander’ of the NDFB (Songbijit) was killed in an encounter with a joint police and an Assam Rifle team in Sonitpur district of Assam along the Arunachal Pradesh border, a police officer informed on Monday.
The hardcore militant identified as Elion Daimary alias D Engarlang was killed at Chariduar on Sunday night.
One pistol, one magazine, four rounds of live ammunition, one motorbike, two mobile sets along with SIM card were recovered from the slain militant, said Sonitpur district Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parasar on Monday.
The militant, who hails from Mazbat Bogoribari village in Udalguri district, was involved in various subversive activities, besides attacking several small tea growers at Rangapara in the district, Parasar said.
Meanwhile, in a humanitarian act, the 12 Assam Rifles was extending a helping hand to the family of NDFB(S) militant ‘sergeant major’ Raton Narzary who was killed in an encounter on March 31 at Lakhipur area, Assam Rifle sources informed the reporters on Monday.
An amount of Rs 30,000 was given to Raton Narzary’s  wife and their two children – a one year old daughter and a three year old son were adopted with both of them receiving Rs 2500 per month till they attain 18 years of age, the sources informed thereby       adding that his wife was also offered a job at the Assam Rifles School at Lokora.
