Nongstoin director’s film among top-10

NONGSTOIN: “Balei” a movie about a child labourer directed by Rinaldi Kharbani, was the sole film from Meghalaya to make it to the top 10 stage of the The Brahmaputra Short Film Contest 2015.
Rinaldi, a resident of Pyndengrei village, Nongstoin belongs to a financially deprived family and shot the movie with a mobile phone.
Among the other top 10 selected movies are “The Roll” by Parikshit Dutta, “Point 22” by Kangba Lovejoy P, “Laktkan” by Jivitest Mazumdar besides others.
Rinaldi told reporters  on Thursday that the contest is open only to the north-eastern film makers and plenty of films were screened during the contest. He expressed his happiness on his film making it to the top 10.
It must be mentioned that the final event will be held at Guwahati from 24-26 April. The CM of Assam, Tarun Gogoi will grace the occasion as the chief guest on the 24 April along with other well noted personalities like Rajkumar Hirani, Director of PK, Kunal Kapoor of Rang De Basanti, Rajkumar of Kai Po Che and Shimit Amin of Chak De India.
