Maha govt contacts 187 tourists from state in Nepal

Mumbai: Maharashtra government said on Saturday night that it had contacted 187 people from the state who are in earthquake-hit Nepal. The state government has set up a cell at the Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi to help people from the state locate their relatives and friends.
The helpline of this cell is 011-2338-0325. It is working under Sameer Sahai, Additional Resident Commissioner.
People can also contact the Mantralaya control room here at 022-2202-7990 to get information.
The government, in co-ordination with the National Disaster Response Force and other agencies, was trying to bring the tourists back, an officer in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s office told PTI.
Of these 187 people, 70 are a part of a tour organised by Mumbai-based Veena World, 74 are from Nashik. Fourteen are from Pimpri-Chinchwad, five from Daund, five from Hadapsar and four from Satara. Also, there is a group of 15 sales tax officers.
Earlier in the day, Fadnavis instructed the state disaster management team to be prepared for rescue operations which may have to be undertaken in Nepal as well as in India.(PTI)
