ANVC-B verification report goes ‘missing’

SHILLONG: Former cadres of the ANVC-B have accused the State government of some hidden agenda against them after it was revealed that verification records of the ANVC-B cadres had gone missing.
In a statement issued on Sunday, ANVC-B informed that a meeting was convened by Meghalaya Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri on Thursday regarding the missing verification records of ex-ANVC-B cadres.
“The State officials who were looking into the rehabilitation of disbanded cadres accused our former leaders of not cooperating and not completing the verification of the organisation’s members,” the ANVC-B said, while informing that the process of verification was completed on December 13 before the outfit was disbanded.
“Verification of the ANVC cadres was done on December 12 and 14 while our cadres were verified on December 14 last year,” the ANVC-B claimed.
“How come our records have gone missing while all the ANVC records are there?” the ANVC-B leader questioned while alleging that it was plot to deprive their members, frustrate them and push them back to the jungle.
The ANVC-B in the statement also said that they were shocked to learn from the State officials that only three out of all the weapons handed over to the Government were in working condition.
The ANVC-B further claimed alleged that they were not getting equal support despite their cooperation. “We did not have any liaison office, designated camp or monthly stipends as others,” it added.
