Guwahati: Launching the ‘oust Congress’ campaign in Assam, the BJP president Amit Shah on his maiden visit to the state on Sunday called upon the people to free the state of ‘Congress culture of corruption’ by installing BJP in power in Assembly election of 2016.
“The next Assam Assembly election is meant for freeing Assam of Bangladeshi infiltrators and insurgency, for facilitating all round development of Assam, for providing jobs to Assam’s youth and security to its women. So, vote for BJP to achieve these as well as to free Assam from the clutches of corrupt Congress,” the BJP president  Amit Shah said addressing a mammoth rally here.
“The huge size of crowd in front of me is just a confirmation of sort that the days on Congress in Assam have been numbered. The corrupt Congress has to be rooted out from Assam first before it is shunted out of the entire North East,” the BJP president said.
“It is only the BJP that is capable of solving the vexed problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh to Assam as the Congress wants votes of Bangladeshis to remain in power.”
He, however, stated, “Hindus who had come from Bangladesh to escape persecution will be accorded ‘religious refuges’ status by the BJP government. But people of Assam needn’t worry as it is the responsibility of the entire nation to share the burden of these religious refugees.”
“The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided Rs 140 crore to Assam government to make the National Register of Citizens (NRC) so that it becomes easier to detect illegal Bangladeshi migrants,” Shah said.
“The Congress government in Assam has been a government of corruption. It has been embroiled in corruption worth about Rs 30,000 crore over the years including Rs 10,000 crore PDS scam. The CAG has accused the Congress government in Assam of failing submit account for about Rs 13,000 crore Central fund,” the BJP president alleged.
