Agartala:  BJP All India president Amit Shah on Monday described the Left Front as a misguided political force which was synonymous to corruption in the country .
Addressing his maiden rally in Tripura, he criticised the Manik Sarkar-led Left Front government and alleged that the state cannot prosper under his rule. He said there is serious allegation of misappropriation of centrally sponsored funds in the state during the Left Front 22-year rule.
The Centre is looking at the issue, he added. The Leftists always play with the emotions of the poor. Wherever Leftists rule, poverty remains with them. Unless Left Front is wiped out from the state, Tripura cannot be developed, he reiterated.
He, however, stated that BJP has already made up its mind to oust the Left Front from power in Tripura in the next assembly election, scheduled for 2018.
Referring to the alleged corruption in MGNREGS fund in Tripura, Mr Shah said the Modi government has put the system in place to bring transparency in  implementation of schemes for the rural poor.
Flaying the Congress on development of the region, he said since Independence for the past 68 years, Northeast never got its legitimate developmental packages and the previous Congress-led UPA government had also done nothing for the region’s development.
But after Narendra Modi-led BJP government in centre came to power, the Prime Minister laid maximum emphasis on the region for proper development by changing the Look East policy to Act East policy. The ministry of DoNER has been re-oriented and all the ministries are asked to visit Northeast on monthly basis,” Mr Shah said.
Highlighting the developmental activities of the Modi led union government; Shah said during the regimes of UPA governments a total Rs 12 lakh crore was siphoned through corruption. Through transparent governance, the BJP government cancelled all 220 allocations of coal block mines, from which the country got zero revenue and by fresh allocation of only 30 coal block mines, the union government got Rs two lakh crore of revenues, said Shah. Since Narendra Modi government came to power the inflation rate of the country was decreasing day by day through some pro-development steps, said Shah adding that Congress and CPM were doing politics in the name of poor people, but did not do anything for their upliftment, he said.
The BJP leader said about 60 crore of Indians did not have any bank accounts, but Modi- led BJP government so far have provided 14 crore of banks accounts to the poor people of the country with Rs two lakh of insurance along with other facilities, he said.
People of the country have removed the Communists from other parts of the country. Now the turn has come for the people of Tripura to remove them from the only state of the country”, Shah added.
When Shah was addressing the rally, as many as 25 NREGA beneficiaries were injured in police lathicharge at Shankhola village in Mohanpur in Northern Agartala. The beneficiaries had been demonstrating to get their outstanding dues of past one month. (UNI)
