Itanagar: Responding to the concern faced by the Arunachal government in cash management as raised by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has assured to consider the request favourably. Jaitley said Arunachal Pradesh being a strategic and sensitive border state, it will always receive preferential and immediate consideration by the Union government.
Tuki had called on the minister in Delhi yesterday and apprised him of the difficulty being faced by the state in cash management during initial transition of implementation of the 14th Finance Commission due to non-release of central share of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in the month of April, official sources said here on Monday.
He had also explained to the minister that due to change of funding pattern and non-finalisation of CSS policy, the Special Category States are adversely affected in their cash management till the funding pattern is approved by the Union Cabinet. Rational exercise is being undertaken by NITI Aayog and it will take some time to have clarity in the matter, Mr Tuki said.
Till that time the states should be assisted by the Centre by way of extending Ways and Means Advance (WMA) facilities as well as advance drawal of State Share of Central Taxes to tide over the situation, the chief minister said.
He also urged upon the Finance Minister to immediately release the first instalment of all central schemes fully funded by the centre. (UNI)
