Illegal fishing banned

SHILLONG: Concerned over the illegal killing of fish in the Myntdu river, the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills district and the Jaintia Fishing and Environment Protection Association have imposed a ban on the use of dynamite, bleaching powder, slaked lime or any poisonous chemical substance in the river for killing fish especially by trapping them when the river is in floodtide.
