Kewekhape new Nagaland Congress Chief
New Delhi: Mr Kewekhape has been appointed as Nagaland State Congress unit. Party Supremo Sonia Gandhi has approved his name for the post of party state president, AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said here. Mr Kewekhape replaced SI Jamir, Mr Dwivedi stated. (UNI)
Nagaland alerts travelers to take measures of H1N1
Kohima: The Nagaland Nodal Officer in the Health & Family Welfare Department has appealed to the people travelling out of state to take preventive measures for Swine Flu. In a release, the Nodal Officer said in lieu of the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus circulating widely in the country, the travelers going outside Nagaland are advised to get vaccinated and use protective measures, especially those at high risk category as given in the media and website of the Health and Family Welfare Department. Improved law and order in Arunachal: State minister
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tanga Byaling on Tuesday claimed that the law and order situation in the state has drastically improved in the last one year with the state police not committing any lapses in its responsibilities. “With limited resources and manpower, our police are doing commendable job far better than Delhi police in controlling crime and criminals,” Byaling said while awarding a few police personnel for their commendable success in solving an extortion case in troubled Tirap district of the state, at police headquarters here on Tuesday. Exhorting the cops to do their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication, the home minister said that a slight mistake would ruin their image as well as that of the state. (PTI)
Security strengthened in Arunachal
Itanagar:  The Arunachal Pradesh Police have beefed up security measures to maintain law and order in three troubled districts of Changlang, Tirap and Longding following the May 3 ambush by NSCN (K) in Nagaland’s Mon district where eight security personnel were killed. The DGP S Nithianandam said security was also strengthened throughout the state to maintain law and order. On April 2, three Army personnel were killed and four injured when suspected NSCN militants ambushed their vehicle. Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district bordering Nagaland. The NSCN-K pulled out of its 14-year ceasefire agreement with the government on March 27 last. (PTI)
