Top GNLA commander gunned down

GUWAHATI: Security forces shot dead a top commander of the proscribed GNLA during the last 24 hours.
A defense source here informed that based on specific intelligence a GNLA commander, self-styled lieutenant Sanjay alias Gobat, resident of Ring Ring under Mendipathar police station of North Garo Hills District, was killed at Chidareth village late Thursday night by the Army.
Sanjay had become a personification of terror in the region and the innocent civil population had been terrorized by his acts of senseless violence and high demand for extortion. A 7.62mm pistol and large quantity of ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorist.
