Assam MLA’s judicial remand extended

Guwahati: The judicial remand of ruling Congress MLA Rumi Nath of Assam was extended to 14 days by a local court here on Monday.
The chief judicial magistrate, Kamrup, ordered extending judicial remand of Nath by 14 days when the legislator was produced before the court at the end of her current term.
Rumi Nath’s plea for bail will be taken up by the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday. Her appeal for interim anticipatory bail was earlier rejected by the High Court.
The ruling party MLA was arrested on April 14 for her alleged links with notorious car-lifter gang kingpin Anil Chouhan, who was apprehended near Guwahati few days earlier. She was arrested by Dispur police for her alleged links with international car-lifting racket kingpin Anil Chauhan (UNI)
