Patna: A man was killed in Bihar when a mild earthquake caused a wall to collapse in Bihar on Saturday evening. The tremor created panic among the people, who rushed out of their houses, shops and offices, officials said.
The man died in Shikarpur in West Champaran district when a wall collapsed following the earthquake, a district official said.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked officials to assess the damage if any and appealed to the people to ignore rumours and stay calm.
Patna meteorological department official R.K. Giri said the earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted many parts of Bihar. The epicentre was in Nepal, he said. (IANS)
