Swu sets 3-pronged plan for improvement of roads

Kohima:  Nagaland Minister for Roads and Bridges Y Vikheho Swu has announced the formulation of a road maintenance policy, to be framed within three months, which aimed for better maintenance of existing PWD roads.
Official sources said today the newly-appointed minister was addressing a gathering of PWD (R&B) officers here yesterday where he said the first step would be to visit all the districts, where the Department would have to present power points on road statistics one week from now.He also said the Department would bring out a road maintenance policy in three months.He further proposed to set up a satellite division where the work would be partially taken over, if the divisions under R&B do not work according to the desired expectation.
Mr Swu said more funds would be allocated to the best division, not on fresh work, but on maintenance.
Commissioner and Secretary Works and Housing Himato Zhimomi informed that for the four-lane highway project, a global tender would be put up soon as various global firms were interested to take up the work.
On Railway line to Zubza, he said recommendation had been made for a tunnel.
The railway line would touch up to Mao Gate which would connect the proposed railway line till Imphal. (UNI)
