Meghalaya seeks improvement in air connectivity

New Delhi: Meghalaya will soon not only be connected to the national capital by air but also other metros with the Centre agreeing to start modernization work of Umroi airport.
The assurance from the Centre came during the meeting between Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapati Raju Pusapati and Meghalaya Transport Minister HDR Lyngdoh held here on Thursday.
Lyngdoh intimated the Union Minister that the required additional land for expansion of the airport has already been handed over to the Airport Authority of India.
The Union Minister directed the concerned officials to resume work at Umroi airport, the Meghalaya Minister said after the meeting. (Contd on P-7)
