Notification
The Governor of Meghalaya has exempted the District Special Branch Offices of South West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, North Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills, from the purview of the Right to Information Act, 2005. This was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary, Political Department.
Telecast
With the NDA government nearing completion of one year in office, DD News has begun telecasting a series of special programmes as part of its intense three-week coverage. The public broadcaster has also lined up several audience-based special shows. DD News will re-telecast one such programme recorded in Shillong on May 24 at 10 pm. It will be available in all DTH channels and cable television network which has been made mandatory to carry DD National and DD News in its prime bands without any disturbance.

Excise raid
The Excise staff of East Khasi Hills in the month of April detected 37 cases with a seizure of 41.050 litres of liquor and 12.645 litres of IMFL and arrested 34 persons.
Awareness
The KSU Mawkyrwat Circle in collaboration with the office of Agriculture, Basin Development, Horticulture, Soil & Water Conservation, Fishery and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, organized an awareness programme on government schemes for farmers recently at the Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills.
Inauguration
An eco-hatchery was inaugurated at Makbilkol village under Ranikor C&RD Block in South West Khasi Hills District recently by local legislator M.M. Danggo in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ripnar Lyngdoh, Director of Fisheries I.R. Sangma and other state and district government officials.
Parliamentary Secretary in charge Water Resources Coming One Ymbon recently inaugurated a Multi-Purpose Facility Centre at Moolibang, Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills. The centre was constructed at a cost of Rs.36 lakh funded by the DC Office, West Jaintia Hills.
Conference
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change, North East Region office, Shillong, recently organized a one-day national conference on recent advances regarding environment and forest laws. Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsong graced the conference.
Cleaning drive
The Shillong Punjabi Youth Welfare Association, Bara Bazar Punjabi Lane, has informed all the residents of the locality to participate in a cleaning drive to be held in the locality on May 24 from 6 am to 12:30 pm.
