Youth develops censor-based dustbin to promote cleanliness

Rampur (UP): A 22-year-old engineering student has developed a dustbin with built-in censors that would go off if garbage is thrown around the ‘Smart Dustbin’, compelling passersby to put it in the dustbin. The developer, Amol Gupta, has undertaken research work in technical education besides attending engineering courses in the Teerthankar Mahaveer University. He has inducted a censor instrument which is capable to catch the smell of garbage not dropped in the dustbin. It can censor the household wastes thrown on the roads. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachhata Abhiyan, the young research scholar informed media that an infra-red receiver, buzzer, transistor and a battery has been used and it took five months time to complete the project named ‘Smart Dust Bin’. Conwoman posing as IAS officer arrested in Jaipur

Jaipur:  A 28-year-old woman who had conned several people by posing as an IAS officer and befriended several socialites here has been arrested, police said on Friday. The woman has been identified as Khushboo Shamra alias Smriti Sharma alias Lady Cocoa and she was arrested on charges of trespassing a house and car theft on Wednesday, said SHO Sodala Sunil Prasad, Adarsh Nagar police station. “An FIR was lodged against the woman for trespassing a house few days back and she was chased by a police team who held her on Wednesday with a car. Yesterday, Adarsh Nagar police station arrested her in another case of car theft,” SHO Sodala Sunil Prasad said. In February, Sharma had taken a lift from a man on Ajmer road and had taken him to Rajapark area where she asked him to get some pills from a medical shop. When the men went to the shop, she drove away the vehicle, SHO Adarsh Nagar Brijesh Meena said. The car was recovered from the possession of the woman who was staying alone in a flat. Sharma used to pose as an IAS officer and had become friends with many local socialites. On social networking sites also, she described herself an officer, another police officer said. After her arrest several people had contacted the police and told them how they too were cheated by her. (PTI)

BJYM releases video documents Modi Govt’s achievements

New Delhi: BJP’s youth wing president and MP Anurag Thakur on Friday released a video, ‘WinWin365’, documenting various initiatives undertaken by the Narendra Modi government during its first year in office. The 15-minute video will be circulated on social media and screened at various places to inform the people about “achievements” of the BJP government at the Centre. “The world is talking about achievements of the Modi government but it has not received the kind of appreciation it deserves in India. “During the Congress regime, the entire media went hoarse talking about the coal scam but nobody told the story how allocation of 204 mines were cancelled and by auctioning just 30 mines, Rs 2 lakh 34 thousand crore were earned,” Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Thakur said. “We need to take the work of our government to the public and I think this video is a step towards the right direction,” he added. The video talks about different schemes like ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’, ‘Make In India’, ‘Mudra Bank’, and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ that were launched in the past one year by the BJP-led government. It also documents initiatives taken for youths, women, MSMEs, traders, the middle class and senior citizens. PTI stations also. (PTI)

Retired police officer murdered in Madhya Pradesh

Indore: A 78-year-old retired police officer was allegedly killed by unidentified persons at his residence and also decamped with cash and jewellery, police said on Friday. Retired inspector Arjun Singh Parihar, was allegedly killed last evening at his residence in Vishnupura Colony while his wife, who works at a girls’ hostel in the vicinity, was out, Deputy Inspector General Santosh Singh said. When Parihar’s wife returned home, she found him lying on the ground with a piece of cooler wire kept near the body, the officer said. According to family members, Parihar’s wife found her house, on the first floor, ransacked and Rs 10,000 cash and three gold rings were also stolen, the DIG said. Prime facie it appears Parihar died of asphyxiation, he said. (PTI)

Liquid sodium iodide leak at Delhi’s IGI Airport

New Delhi: A leak in a consignment of “sodium iodide class 7 category liquid” triggered panic at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on early Friday morning, a CISF officer said, adding the situation is under control.”A consignment of sodium iodide class 7 category liquid reached the IGI Airport in Turkish Airlines around 4.35 a.m. As it was being moved to a secure place from where it had to be sent to Fortis Hospital, a leak was noticed,” a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer told IANS on condition of anonymity.He said though the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was informed, the situation was under control and there was no need to panic. Jaya to contest TN by-poll from RK Nagar constituency

Chennai: AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been announced as party candidate for the June 27 by-election to Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly Constituency, a seat vacated by her party MLA P Vetrivel. A decision to this effect was taken at the AIADMK Parliamentary Board meeting here, Jayalalithaa said in a party statement. She had been tipped to contest from the constituency following Vetrivel’s resignation. Jayalalithaa had earlier represented her native Srirangam constituency prior to her conviction in the disproportionate assets case by a Bengaluru special court on September 27 last. As a result, she had to resign her assembly membership. She was subsequently acquitted by the Karnataka High Court on May 11, allowing her to return as Chief Minister of the state for the fifth time. Jayalalithaa assumed the office of chief minister again on May 23 and would have to be elected as MLA within six months. (PTI)
