SHILLONG: The Village Administration Bill (VAB) is still pending with the Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan contrary to the reports in a section of the media that the Bill was sent back to the Government.

An official with the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday said that the Government had not sent the Bill back to the Government.

“He had only sought some comments from the State Government on the memorandums received by him against the Bill”, the official added.

Earlier, the Governor had also sought comments from Union Home Ministry before giving nod to the Bill.

Meet on new Bill: Meanwhile, the State Government will meet representatives from different political parties on Wednesday to discuss the draft ordinance of the State Government to empower the traditional institutions in the state.

The meeting is scheduled to discuss on issues related to whether to allow the ordinance to have its natural death and look for other Bills which has been passed by the respective Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) pending the State Governor’s assent.
