NONGSTOIN: Vexed with the State Government inaction with regards to construction of the Mawsyrpat health sub centre that was sanctioned 17 years ago in 1998, the KSU Mawshynrut Circle on Wednesday met District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO) West Khasi Hills, Dr. P.S. Nongkhlaw demanding his intervention in the matter.
The sub centre has been functioning from the Anganwadi centre in the absence of a permanent office.
KSU Mawshynrut circle president, Armstrong Sohshang, informed pressmen on Wednesday that the abnormal delay by the Health department in constructing the sub centre has given rise to various difficulties for the public, especially pregnant women.
The KSU expressed concern that the despite sanction being granted in 1998, the sub centre was not constructed since the State Health department had not approved the building of the sub centre. Land for the sub centre was donated by the Dorbar Shnong of Mawsyrpat village.
The KSU demanded immediate construction of the sub centre for the welfare of the local residents.
