Melbourne:  Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne has announced his list of England’s greatest XI in Tests since 1990 after announcing his best Australian Test and one-day teams a few days back.
Michael Vaughan, who led England to Ashes triumph in 2005, has been named as the captain of Warne’s team.
Graham Gooch and Marcus Trescothick were chosen as the openers for the Test side, while England’s highest run-scorer across all formats, Kevin Pietersen and Mike Gatting fill the middle-order spots, Alec Stewart takes the position of wicketkeeper-batsman, while Warne decided to pick 2005 Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff, ahead of Ian Botham for the role of the all-rounder.
“I unfortunately didn’t play test cricket against Ian Botham, otherwise of course he would have made it as to me he was the best all round cricketer to ever play the game,” Warne wrote on his Facebook. Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, Darren Gough and James Anderson form the bowling attack of Warne’s team. (ANI)
