One held for rape, murder of kin

SHILLONG: One Ricky Mawrie (22) has been arrested for allegedly raping and subsequently murdering his cousin sister.
The deceased Ibansara Mawrie (27) had gone missing on Thursday after which police nabbed Ricky on Monday. According to the police, Ricky had confessed that he had raped Ibansara before murdering her. He then abandoned the body at a forest near Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Rynjah.
This is the third murder case of women in a week’s time.  A body of a young lady was found on September 7 near Assam Rifles Bazar, Happy Valley.
According to police, someone had smashed her head with some blunt object which indicates that it was a clear case of murder. No arrest had been made in this regard.
The woman, who is at the age group of 25-30 years, has not been identified.
In another case, on September 9, a body of another woman Krap Langstang (42) was recovered from Thadsning Road, West Jaiñtia Hills. Police had arrested one Taining Suchiang (30) in this connection.
