International Day for preservation of Ozone Layer observed

SHILLONG: The International Day for preservation of Ozone Layer, 2015 was observed at Kyntiew Shaprang Higher Secondary School, Laitlyngkot on September 16.
The programme was organized by the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, East Khasi Hills in collaboration with Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board under the theme, ‘30 Years of Healing The Ozone Together’.
The programme included four competitions including drawing and painting, slogan writing, essay writing and quiz competition among different schools located under Laitkroh C&RD Block followed by distribution of brochures on Ozone Depletion published jointly by Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board and the Forest and Environment Department. Deputy conservator of forests, S.A. Nongsiej chaired the programme.
The function concluded with the planting of tree saplings in  Kyntiew Shaphrang Higher Secondary School campus. The programme saw a huge participation of students, teachers and representatives of Executive Committee of Laitlyngkot area.
