83 crimes recorded on CCTV cameras: Home Minister
As many as 83 cases of crimes were recorded on CCTV cameras put up across 30 locations in the city.
In reply to a question raised by Titosstarwell Chyne (UDP), Home Minister Roshan Warjri said that the cases caught on CCTV cameras include roadside drinking, dendrite sniffing, people creating nuisance, reckless driving, thefts, assaults, quarrels, pick pocketing and bike thefts, among others.
The Minister also informed the House that the cost price of each bullet camera is Rs.47,131 and that of each Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera is Rs.87,530 including taxes.
To a supplementary question, the minister denied that some CCTV cameras had been stolen and confirmed that all were functional.

4 municipalities scrutinized for smart city project’
Four municipal boards in the State had been scrutinized in the first stage before Shillong was selected for the smart city project.
Urban and Municipal Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh informed the House that a competition had been conducted and the State Government had awarded 54 points to Shillong, 42.5 points to Tura, 20 points to Williamnagar and 5 points to Jowai.
Replying to a question by Ardent Basaiawmoit (HSPDP), Ampareen said that since the State was asked to send only one name, Shillong which scored the highest points, was recommended for the project which was subsequently sanctioned.
She added that in the second stage, the State government will have to prepare a proposal for a ‘city challenge’ where the smart city plan of each city will be pitted against other cities.
Winning cities to be selected by the evaluation committee of the Union Urban Affairs Ministry will start implementing the smart city plan while other cities will be given opportunity to improve the smarty city plan for consideration in the second round.

Laloo assurances to Kiang Nangbah College students
Deputy Chief Minister in charge Education, R.C. Laloo, on Thursday assured fulfillment of various demands of Kiang Nangbah Government College Students’ Union after the matter was raised by Paul Lyngdoh (UDP) in the Assembly during the question hour.
Lyngdoh said that he realized the dilapidated condition of the college infrastructure after paying a visit to the College.
In his reply, Laloo said that the PWD had submitted a proposal of Rs.4.68 crore for improvement of the infrastructure.
He also said that the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education had sent a proposal for purchasing a bus with a capacity of 40 seats.
The demands of the students include improvement of infrastructure, construction of a Kiang Nangbah monument, salaries to causal employees and others.

Salary of muster roll staff pending for one year
Independent legislator John Leslee Sangma on Thursday lamented that muster roll workers under Tura Division were not getting their salary for the last one year.
In his reply, Deputy Chief Minister in charge Law, Rowell Lyngdoh, said that since there was no maintenance fund available with the Government last year, the salary could not be disbursed.
Lyngdoh said that the total number of muster roll workers is 228 in the State and the monthly salary comes to around Rs.11,38,500.
