Workshop
A two-day workshop on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was organized by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District at Nongpoh on Sept 16. The workshop focused on generating awareness about the survival, protection and education of the girl child.
Platinum jubilee
The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides will celebrate its platinum jubilee at the State Training Centre, Umtyngar, through a national integration camp from Sept 23-27 on the theme ‘Build-Grow-Share’. Participants from all the North Eastern states and other states will attend the camp.
Science Congress
The National Children’s Science Congress organized by the office of the District Planning Officer, South West Khasi Hills District, in collaboration with State Council of Science Technology and Environment was held on Thursday at the office of the Executive Engineer (PHE), South West Khasi Hills, on the theme ‘Understanding Weather and Climate’. Presbyterian Sec. School, Mawlangwir, bagged the 1st and 2nd prizes while Little Star Sec. School, Mawkyrwat, came 3rd.
Meeting
Annual general meeting of the Central Puja Committee shall be held at Jagannath Mandir, Thana Road, Shillong, on Sept 20 at 11 am to be attended by all Puja and Mandir committees of Greater Shillong and other districts.
PM greeted
The Modi Fan Club has wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi oh his 65th birthday. In a statement, Dondor Singh Rumnong, president, Modi Fan Club, Meghalaya, said that on this very day in 2013, his fans and well wishers from Meghalaya had assembled together in Shillong and resolved to form Modi Fan Club in Meghalaya.

Baijayanti, a women’s social cultural organization, has informed that the prize distribution ceremony of the sit and draw competition as well as merit scholarship award will be held on Sept 19 at 3 pm at Laban Bengalee Boy’s Higher Secondary School Auditorium.
Pension adalat
The circle level pension adalat for Department of Posts, North East Postal Circle, will be held in the office of the Chief Postmaster General on Oct 16 at 11 am.
