SHILLONG: Senior advocate S.P. Mahanta has filed an FIR at Laitumkhrah police station against Tushar Nath Bhattacharjee, a non-resident Indian, for the latter’s comments in a letter which mentioned that Mahanta had grabbed his land illegally.
In the FIR, Mahanta claimed that the NRI had defamed him in the eye of the public by claiming that no court of law has ever held him accountable for illegal land grab among other allegations.
Mahant wanted the police to arrest Tushar immediately for defaming him. The address of Tushar given in the FIR was Sydney, Australia and another at Guwahati.
