SHILLONG: The Nongpoh Town Committee has asked the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to construct foot over bridges, underground crossing passage, besides setting up of solar lights and pavements for the pedestrians to walk at Nongpoh.
In a memorandum submitted to the chairman of the National Highway Authority of India, the committee said that the four lane Umiam-Jorabat expressway passes through Nongpoh and there is a need for community development programmes in the area too.
Stating that the project has no provision for underground utility corridor, the Committee said that they have taken up the matter  with  the Government and National Highway Authority of India but they ruled that they require additional land and additional  funds for the other utility services.
